Robert C. "Bob" Andersen's Obituary
Robert C. “Bob” Andersen, age 94, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021. He was born January 4, 1927 in Chicago, IL to Christian and Petra (Thomson) Andersen. Following high school, Bob enlisted in the United States Coast Guard Merchant Marines and served his country during WWII. He worked 40 years for Teledyne Continental Motors as a machinist prior to his retirement in 1986. On May 11, 1950, he married Jeanne Bourdon in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on January 26, 2019. In his early years he worked for his father as a commercial fisherman on Lake Michigan and sold perch to local establishments. He enjoyed playing cards with family and more recently took up the game of Bridge with his playing partner, Gary. Bob was a true caregiver and through the years took care of his parents and his wife, Jeanne, prior to her passing. He had a great attitude, was independent, took one day at a time, and enjoyed the simple things in life. Bob is survived by 3 children: Chuck (Anita) Andersen of Seattle, WA, Cheryl (Richard) Didrickson of N. Muskegon, and Tom (Nancy) Andersen of Laketon Twp.; 5 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Andrea, Joseph, Alexis, and Scott; 3 great-grandchildren: Keely, Angelo, and Aiden; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Cookie. Services for Bob will be private. He will be laid to rest in Lakeside Cemetery with his wife, Jeanne. MEMORIALS to the Harbor Hospice Foundation will be appreciated.
