Mr. Robert L. Benson's Obituary
Mr. Robert Lyman Benson, age 91, passed away Thursday morning, May 3, 2012. He was born in Muskegon on March 16, 1921 to John and Myrna (Nichols) Benson. Mr. Benson was a veteran of the United States Army and served in WWII. He had been employed at Teledyne Continental Motors before retiring in 1979. Bob was an avid golfer, bowler, and musician. On November 20, 1939, Bob married the former Betty Jane Brooks and she preceded him in death on December 4, 2002. He is survived by 3 children, Mary Lee Moeller, Sherry Sue Anderson, and Wendy Kay Benson; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Patricia Lynn Benson; 1 granddaughter; 2 brothers and 1 sister. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Rev. Dr. Gerald J. Wahr officiating. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Mona View Cemetery. MEMORIALS to Heartwood Lodge Hospice House or American Heart Association would be appreciated.
