Robert "Bob" H. Clark's Obituary
Robert H. “Bob” Clark, 75, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. Bob was born July 12, 1949, in Ames, Iowa to Harold E., Jr. and Elizabeth V. (Valley) Clark, and moved to the Muskegon area in 1974. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served as an Air Traffic Controller, both in the Navy and for the FAA at the Muskegon County Airport, retiring in 1999. He owned the Dive Store in Grand Haven and was a PADI instructor. He was one of the first people to place “No Swimming” pylons at the Grand Haven Beach, was instrumental in organizing the Jaques Cousteau trip to the Great Lakes and was a Rescue Boat Driver for the Grand Haven Power Boat races in the 1980’s. Bob co-owned the Grand River Art Gallery. He was an avid world-wide hunter, who shared that passion with his children and grandchildren and was an international booking agent for South African Safaris who was known as “Cruiser Bob” from 2000-2024. He was also an avid coin collector, and he became ordained on-line so he could officiate at his daughter’s wedding. Survivors include his wife, Leesa; children: Tim (Kristi) Clark, Brian Clark, April Davis, Cassandra (Chris) Davis, Stephanie (Chad) Hecksel, John (Angela Munson) Bosch; 19 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Jim (Marci) Clark, Tom (Lori) Clark, Mike (Becky) Clark; 14 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his brother John Clark. The funeral service for Bob will be Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 1:00 PM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, August 21, from 5-8 PM, also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Nunica Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mr. Clark may be made to his family.
