Robert "Bob" J. Gray's Obituary
Mr. Robert J. “Bob” Gray, age 92, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 at his home. He was born on April 17, 1922 to Alvin and Olive (Roleau) Gray, and resided in the area since 1966. Mr. Gray was a Veteran of World War II, having served his country in the Merchant Marines. He worked as an engineer on boats that sailed the Great Lakes for 15 years, and then as a maintenance engineer at SD Warren for 15 years, before retiring in 1986. Mr. Gray was a member of the Elks, and enjoyed golfing and duck hunting. He liked playing cards, was an avid reader and was a Green Bay Packers fanatic. On January 16, 1954, he married the former Helen “Jean” Farrell, and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. SURVIVORS include his wife, Jean; 2 children, Robert (Marian) Gray, Jr. of Coral Springs, FL, and Barbara Gray of Huntington Woods, MI; along with granddaughter, Liliana Gray. Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 brothers. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 11 AM Saturday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100.
