Robert "Bob" Groeneveld's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Groeneveld, age 73, passed away on Monday May 1, 2023 at home surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on September 4, 1949 in Muskegon to Murten and Amelia “Lillian” (Hutta) Groeneveld, and resided in the area his entire life. Bob was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served his country with two tours of duty in Vietnam. Bob was on the USS IWO JIMA (LPH-2) for the retrieval of the Apollo 13 capsule and astronauts. He was a member of VFW #8846. Bob was the founder of Affordable Gutters Inc., and upon retiring in 2012, his son Scott Groeneveld took over the business. Bob had many hobbies and enjoyed riding his Harley and his Kawasaki dirt bike, hunting, and snowmobiling. On April 27, 1984 he married the former Deborah Jo Wendt, and she survives him along with three children, Christine (Michael) Dippel, Jennifer Witt, and Scott (Charlotte) Groeneveld; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Kayley and Dylan Panozzo, Meridythe and Gavin Witt, Austin Groeneveld, Tyler and Brandon Meyers; brother, Jerry (Deborah Lynn) Groeneveld; sister, Carolyn (Richard) Beute; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Murten and Lillian Groeneveld. Private Family Services will be held.
