Robert "Bob" J. Heethuis' Obituary
Mr. Robert J. “Bob” Heethuis, 74, met his Lord and Savior Sunday, May 1, 2016, near Columbus, OH, while returning from a fiftieth wedding anniversary celebration cruise. Born July 19, 1941 to James and Hendericka (Trap) Heethuis, he was a life resident of Muskegon, and a US Navy veteran. Bob had been employed at Eagle Ottawa Leather and Federal Mogul prior to retiring in 2008, and was a third-generation member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church, where he had served as a Deacon. On April 22, 1966 he married the former Helen Buthker, and she survives him, along with their daughter, Jenni (Bill) Wheeler, and granddaughters, Kate and Nicole of Norton Shores; a brother, Bill (Carolyn) Heethuis of Caledonia; sisters Sally (Ron) Bielema of Fremont, and Mary (Bob) Sytsema of Norton Shores; and a sister-in-law, Marian (Dale) Stoll of Twin Lake. Bob really enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, and watching the Detroit Pistons basketball team. He was a loyal fan of NASCAR racing and drivers Rusty Wallace and Ryan Newman. His granddaughters were his greatest joy in life. VISITATION will be Friday, May 6th, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. Bob’s FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 A. M. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Bethany Christian Reformed Church (1105 Terrace St.), with Rev. David Sieplinga officiating, and interment in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS to the Miller Family Heart and Vascular Institute at the Cleveland Clinic (https://giving.clevelandclinic.org) or Bethany Christian Reformed Church would be appreciated.
