Robert "Bob" A. Murphy's Obituary
Mr. Robert A. “Bob” Murphy, age 71, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 10, 2018. He was born in Muskegon on March 7, 1947 to Harry and Cornelia (Holmes) Murphy, and resided in the area all his life. Bob was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, and member of VFW Post 446. He worked for the State of Michigan Department of Human Services as a case worker for 25 years, before retiring in 1997. Bob was a talented woodworker, enjoyed trips to the casino, and loved to hunt and fish. He was an avid Lions fan, and always enjoyed a good time spent with family and friends. On May 17, 1986, he married the former Vickie Foster, and she survives him along with three children, Susan Murphy, Debra (Gary) Galdeen, and Sarah (Jamie Bishop) Streblow; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas (Diane) Murphy and Larry (Theresa) Murphy; sister, Virginia Winegarden; father-in-law, Robert Foster; sister-in-law, Lorraine “Naner” (Paul) Grabinski; brother-in-law, Tom (Tami) Foster; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Amy Flemen; sister, Joyce (Fritz) DeCheney; and brother-in-law, Sam Winegarden. MEMORIAL SERVICES will be 1 PM Thursday, November 15, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Laketon Twp. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s name to Harbor Hospice or Wounded Warriors would be appreciated.
