Robert L. Bodnar 's Obituary
Mr. Robert L. Bodnar, age 83, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at home. He was born on August 11, 1929 to Louis and Margaret (Kresnak) Bodnar in Muskegon. Mr. Bodnar served his country in the US Army during peace time. He was a proud alumnus of the University of Michigan where he received a degree in mathematical engineering. Mr. Bodnar retired from Detroit Diesel as a senior project engineer in 1995. He enjoyed golf and for many years was golf league secretary at Hickory Knoll. He was also known as “Mayor” of Galys Lake for 15 years where he resided and ran the lake association. Mr. Bodnar was a long time member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. He was a true grandfather and was determined and eager to see as many of his grandchildren’s sporting events as possible. Mr. Bodnar was also an avid Muskegon Big Red fan and for many years never missed a football game. He was married to Carol Dunning-Brown for 42 years. She preceded him in death in 2002. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Tim (Linda) Bodnar of Nashotah, WI; Carissa (Mike) Ashburn of Ostrander, OH and Lynn (Mike) Williams of Farmington Hills, MI; 11 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 2 brothers, Louis Bodnar and Eugene (Arlee) Bodnar and sister, Carolyn (Jim) McClain. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 11, 2013 at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 VISITATION with the family will be Sunday 2:00 – 5:00 PM. MEMORIALS to Johnson Family Cancer Center would be appreciated. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
