Mr. Robert "Bob" Buit's Obituary
Mr. Robert A. “Bob” Buit, age 87, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020, in Muskegon. He was born November 20, 1932 to Albert and Jennie (Dykema) Buit in Muskegon, and was a life resident. Bob was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War from January 29, 1953 until December 29, 1954. He was a longtime member of Unity Reformed Church where he served as Elder and Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Youth Group Leader. He worked at Gray’s Mobile Home Service before starting his own business in 1973 – Bob’s Mobile Home Service. He enjoyed listening to Christian Music, reading his Bible and showing his dedication to our Savior. He also enjoyed taking rides along back roads, walking and being with his family. On June 18, 1953 he married Mary A. Ackerman, and she survives him along with 4 children: Linda (Glen) Tillema, David (Pam) Buit, Douglas Buit, Dan (Angie Capuno) Buit; 10 grandchildren: Rebecca (Dave) Yonker, Lee (Bridget) Tillema, Brett (Alyssa) Buit, Chad (Melissa) Buit, Austin Buit, Devin Buit, Sam Buit, Sophie Buit, Zachary Buit, Bethany Buit; 14 great-grandchildren; Sisters: Marilyn (Bert) Bowen, Joyce Start, Karen Scraver; many nieces and nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by grandson Robert Tillema; brothers-in-law: Clarence Start and Delmar Ackerman; and sister-in-law: Jane Ackerman. The funeral service for Bob will be Saturday, February 1, at 2:00 PM at Unity Reformed Church, 1521 Porter Rd, Muskegon, 49441. Visitation at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 will be Friday, January 31, from 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mr. Buit may be made to Unity Reformed Church or the Veteran’s Group at Unity Reformed Church.
