Robert James Conklin's Obituary
Robert James Conklin, age 53, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019. He was born November 10, 1965 in Jackson, MI to Robert Jule and Judy Ann (Parzych) Conklin. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and had been deployed to Japan. He has been a Tool and Die Maker for over 25 years and was currently employed with JMS, Inc.; he has previously worked for Metal Flow and ITW Drawform. Robert enjoyed golfing, go-cart racing and 4-cylindar enduro racing with his son, Andrew. He was the best show dad for his daughter, Sarah, who showed horses and loved to attend the Grand Valley State University football games with her as well. Robert was an avid sports fan and his favorite teams included the Detroit Lions, Red Wings, Tigers, Pistons and University of Michigan football. He also enjoyed watching the NASCAR races. Robert was a collector of professional and college sports cards and enjoyed mud bogs and two-tracking on his Polaris RZR. High on his list of favorites was bass fishing with time spent on his boat. Robert was highly devoted to his family and friends, he selflessly put other people’s needs before his own. He was a great father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. He will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his son, Andrew T. (Sarah A.) Conklin; his daughter, Sarah C. Conklin; 4 grandchildren, Caleb Carey, Mckenzie Carey, Colt Conklin, Carter Conklin; his father, Bob Conklin; his mother, Judy Cunningham; his sister, Annette Harrington; and his constant companion Chihuahua, “Milo” whom Robert rarely went anywhere without – especially golfing. Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Paige Michelle Conklin. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 5, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Pastor Larry Bush officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10-11AM. We look forward to sharing memories with you at the luncheon immediately following the memorial service. Military Honors will be offered by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans.
