Robert Constant's Obituary
Mr. Robert W. Constant of Grand Haven died October 5, 2016 at home after a courageous struggle with pancreatic cancer at age 55. He is survived by his wife, Traci, and 5 children.
He had an adventurous life, but returned to West Michigan to be surrounded by family and friends during his last couple of months. Despite living in Tennessee and Florida, he always considered himself a Grand Haven Buccaneer. In high school, he was a stand-out three sport athlete including an individual state title in Track in the 220-yard dash. In fact, he still holds several records at Grand Haven High School.
Early in his career, he worked his way up in TruGreen. He started as an entry level salesman, and he made his way up to Vice President. For the last 10 years, he was the southeast division Vice President at ARS amongst other business ventures.
Bob married Traci McAllister in 1996. They met in Florida, although Traci hails originally from Alabama. They have 5 beautiful and talented children: Carli (19), Casey (17), Camryn (15), Caydee (13), and Colton (7). They spent their summers at their cottage in Grand Haven on North Shore Beach.
Bob was a dedicated family man and a person of strong faith. He enjoyed coaching basketball and football, kayaking, boating, and exercising. He was looking forward to seeing his children wear the GH Bucs uniform. He was also an avid MSU football and basketball fan.
Bob was born on January 23, 1961 to Donald and Barbara Constant. His grandparents were Casey and Anna Constant and Hettie and Elbert Steeby. He is survived by his mother and 4 siblings, Jon (Mary), Gary (Gail), Donna (Denny) Van Hall, and Jane (Mark) Hospers. Traci has 5 siblings. One of her sisters, Terri, married Bob’s long term friend and work partner Don Karnes. Terri and Don have 4 children, Kelsey (18), Kaleb (17), Kegan (15), and Keeley (13) who are all close to the Constant children.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 4-8 PM at the VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM, at the Second Reformed Church in Grand Haven. Bob was baptized and grew up in this church.
