Robert D. "Bob" Cordo's Obituary
Robert D. “Bob” Cordo, age 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 8, 1956, in Muskegon, MI, to Dominic and Elizabeth (Zack) Cordo, Bob was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a proud member of the North Muskegon High School Class of 1974. For over 40 years, Bob dedicated himself to his lifelong career as a sporting goods sales representative, finishing his career at W.L. Baumler, where his hard work and integrity made a lasting impact. His professional success was paralleled by his devotion to his family and passions. On September 18, 1997, Bob married the love of his life, Kathleen Ray, in a joyous ceremony in Las Vegas, NV. Together, they shared 37 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and countless memories filled with fishing. In his earlier years, he held the position of pitcher in the Busch men’s softball league, dominating in numerous tournaments over the years. Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter, participating in annual hunting trips and spending countless hours fishing, particularly for Walleye. He was a long-time member of the North Muskegon Fishing Club and competed in various fishing tournaments with Kathy, sharing his passion for the sport with her and others. He was known as the founder of the Blindman’s spinner fishing lure. Bob’s love for the outdoors was matched only by his deep love for his family and friends. He will be remembered for his kind soul, always having a joke on standby and caring heart. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and zest for a life well-lived. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Cordo; two sisters, Elizabeth (Tino) Corradin and Pam Erickson; two brothers, Mike (Nancy) Cordo and Jeff (Cindy) Cordo; special goddaughter, Maria Corradin; numerous wonderful nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, David Ray; sister-in-law, Sheri Ray; childhood friend and lifelong hunting partner, Gerald “Whitey” Whitman; and many cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, David Cordo. A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
