Robert F. Detamore's Obituary
Robert F. Detamore, age 88, died Friday afternoon, October 4, 2013 at Mercy Hospital. He was born July 7, 1925 in Detroit, MI to William H. and Josephine (Rice) Detamore; and has resided in the Muskegon area since 1939. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. Bob was a retired machinist having worked at Continental Motors for 43 years prior to his retirement in 1985. He was a member of St. Francis deSales Church; and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing cards and traveling. He was married to the former Shirley M. Burmeister and she preceded him in death on November 25, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his son, James; daughter-in-law, Ann Detamore; sister, Claire and brother, William. SURVIVORS include his son, Donald of Muskegon and daughter, Sandra (Ronald) Langlois of Fruitport; 5 grandchildren, Jill (Chris) Shaheen, Jamey (Shawn) Detamore, Jeff Detamore, Josh Langlois and Katie Langlois; 2 great-grandchildren, Lukas and Lucie Shaheen; brother, Jerry (Paula) Detamore of Indiana; and 2 sisters, Mary Jo Grimm of Twin Lake and Elaine (Gary) Stromp of Muskegon. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday at Marian Chapel of St. Francis deSales Church with the Rev. Philip P. Salmonowicz presiding. VISITATION with Bob’s family will be 6-8:00 PM Monday at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funerl Homes, Inc., 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441 (231-759-8565), where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30PM Monday. MEMORIAL DONATIONS TO St. Francis Church, the American Cancer Society, or VNS Hospice will be appreciated.
