Robert E. "Rob" Tillema's Obituary
Robert E. “Rob” Tillema (aka “Twig-man”), age 36, passed away unexpectedly in Charlotte Hall, MD on Saturday, January 13, 2018. He was born February 10, 1981 in Muskegon to Glen and Linda (Buit) Tillema; and had been a lifetime resident of the area. Rob was a graduate of Orchard View High School, Muskegon Community College and of Ferris State University where he received a degree in HVAC. He was currently working in Maryland as a Journeyman Plumber and Pipefitter. Rob was a U.S. Navy veteran having enlisted right after graduating from high school, and then served from 1999-2003. Rob enjoyed time with his family, riding motorcycles, boating, the Detroit Red Wings and watching motorcycle racing. He had formerly attended Unity Reformed Church. SURVIVORS include his parents, Glen and Linda; brother, Lee (Bridget) Tillema of Indiana; sister, Rebecca (David) Yonker of Muskegon; 6 nieces; 6 nephews; grandparents, Bob and Mary Buit of Muskegon; aunts and uncles, David (Pam) Buit, Doug Buit, Dan Buit and friend Angie Capuno, Carl (Pam) Tillema, Lester (Norma) Tillema, Edna Eskew; great-aunts and uncles and many cousins. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 1:00PM Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Unity Reformed Church, 1521 Porter Rd., Norton Shores, MI 49441, with Pastors Dave Celeskey and Mark Green, officiating. VISITATION with Rob’s family will be 5:00 – 8:00PM Friday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Svcs., 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100).
