Robert Fountaine's Obituary
Mr. Robert Fountaine, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2019 in Spring Lake. He was born on September 4, 1931 in Gloversville, NY. Bob married the former Mary Smith on October 9, 1954 in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on September 1, 2014. They were active members of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict while in the United States Marine Corps. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, polka music, and cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His sense of humor kept all his friends and family laughing throughout the years. Bob is survived by his children, Monica (Gerry) Kaminski, Glen (Lisa) Fountaine and Desiree (Tim) Culver; grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan) Fitzgerald, Kristie (Kyle) Firestone, Kaitlyn Fountaine, Jonathan Culver (fiancée, Marissa Harper) and Zachary Fountaine; great-grandchildren, Emily Welch, Zoey and Grace Firestone, and Emma Fitzgerald; brother-in-law, Gregory Smith, and half-sister, Carol Stanton. Along with his wife of 59 years, Bob was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Valerie Ann and parents, Frances and Glen Sleight. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11AM Saturday, December 14 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (2929 McCracken St.) with Fr. Charles Hall presiding. Visitation with the family will be 4-7PM Friday, December 13 at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441 with the Rosary prayed at 4PM and one hour prior to the service.
