Mr. Robert "Bob" Friel's Obituary
Mr. Robert L. Friel, age 80, passed away November 12, 2021, in Muskegon. He was born March 20, 1941, to Enos and Helen (Locks) Friel in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. While he worked as a teacher in the Ann Arbor School System for over thirty years, he also gave back to the community in other ways. He served as a sheriff’s deputy, a paramedic, volunteered as a clown for the Shriners, and was a Master Mason. He was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Muskegon, serving as both elder and deacon.
On April 11, 1981, Bob married Yvonne Lauer and she survives him along with two children, Shawna (Roger) Martin, Mike (Karen) Friel, three stepchildren, Robin Schroeder, Karen Potter, and Angela Backus; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a baby brother. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church at 12:00pm on Saturday, November 20, 2021.
