Robert "Bob" Gallas, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Robert “Bob” Gallas, Sr., age 86, of Grand Haven passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Holland Hospital. He was born July 23, 1929 in Michigan City, Indiana to George and Irene (Markiewicz) Gallas.
Bob was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, spending time with friends bowling and having a cold beer.
On July 30, 1949 he married the former Dorothy Szczesniak in Chicago who preceded him in death on March 29, 2013. He is survived by five children: Karen (Tim) Cutler of New Port Richey, FL, Robert, Jr. (Karen) Gallas of Delavan, WI, Richard (Paula) Gallas of Richmond, IL, Ronald (Vicki) Gallas of Elizabethtown, KY, Russell (Cheryl) Gallas of Holland; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Marjorie Voltz.
Visitation for Bob will be 6-8 PM Thursday, September 10, 2015 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. A graveside service will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 11, 2015 at Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Bob may be given to the USS Silversides Submarine Museum in Muskegon, MI or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
