Robert L. Hanson's Obituary
Mr. Robert L. Hanson, 78, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023, in Twin Lake. He was born November 30, 1944, to George H. “Jim” and Pauline (Rekney) Hanson in Lakeview, MI. Bob lived in the Stanwood area for most of his life, before moving to Twin Lake. Bob worked for Mich Con/ DTE energy until retiring in 2007. Bob loved being outdoors hunting and fishing, raising his Mink, and especially training his German Shepherds. On October 10, 1998, he married Sharon S. Garbow, and she survives him along with his daughter Kirstin (Steve) Sims and their three children; step-children: Jannise (Darren Charles) Cook, Jeffrey Wayne (Kari) Cottrell, Brian Max (Janis) Cottrell; step-grandchildren: Ryan, Brandon, Meghan (Travis), Joseph, Samantha, Jared, and Rebecca; sister: Julie (Jack) Hoisington; uncle Tom, two aunts, Ginny and Fran, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter Dr. Deirdre Hall, DVM. A private family service will be held in Muskegon at a later date and a memorial open house will be held October 14, 2023, from 1-4 PM at the Stanwood Eagles. Contributions in memory of Mr. Hanson may be made to the Harbor Hospice Foundation or the Twin Lake Gun Club.
