Robert L. Helms Sr.'s Obituary
Robert Lee Helms Sr, age 47, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, in Muskegon, MI, after a brief battle with cancer. Rob was born on February 28, 1977, in Muskegon, MI, to Steve and Esther (Helms) Gilbert, and he graduated from Muskegon High School in 1996. He loved playing and watching football and basketball. Rob was an overall happy person and a jokester who enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and he always stood up for himself and the people around him.
Robert will be lovingly remembered by his six children: Grace Robinson (Michael Terpstra), JaKeitrah Helms (Devon Price), Robert Wright (Brooklyn Smithers), Benjamin Wright, Emani Cherry, and Ta’Taina Helms; significant other of five years, Nicole Osborne; six grandchildren and many, many other brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by both his parents and some brothers and sisters.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held for Robert at 12:00 PM on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 2301 Sixth St, Muskegon Heights, MI, 49444, with a Repast to follow. Arrangements by The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442.
