Early on at Eschaton blog DWD thought I had a book in me & offered to help me get it out. Writing a book felt like writing a status report and I just didn't want to do it. But I really appreciated the support! I'm very self-conscious about my writing skills and so a compliment from him meant a lot. I didn't take him up on it because I subscribe to the old line, "Everyone has a book in them. But for most people it should stay there."
To DWD's friends and family, He will be missed. His comments on the Eschaton blog about everything from what dinner was going to be prepared to a comment about his frustration of the Dems messaging all added joy and meaning to my life as part of our online community.
I call myself a "brain in a box." because my comments & thoughts exist on the hard drives of computers around the world. His words and comments reached us and will continue to live on in our minds, (as well as in the hard-drives at Disucks headquarters. You might want to download them before Disqus crashes yet again.)
As a half Vulcan, intellectually I know people die. As a half human, emotionally I'm sad when they do. My human half is very sad today.
I wish all his family and friends peace and long life.
