Mr. Robert William Johnson's Obituary
Mr. Robert William Johnson, 89, passed away Saturday morning, June 21, 2014 in Muskegon. He was born April 25, 1925 to William H. and Elizabeth J. (Drumm) Johnson in Muskegon, and was a life resident. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII as a gunner in a B24 in the 68th squadron, and was a member of the VFW Post #446. He was employed at Sealed Power for 37 years before retiring, and had his own consulting business. Bob enjoyed all sports, especially the Detroit teams. He enjoyed golfing, sailing and cross-country skiing. He was a lifetime member of the Muskegon Elks, the Muskegon Yacht Club, and was active in the YFCA for long time. Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and was formerly a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. On September 10, 1949 he married Roberta J. Pider, and she survives him along with 2 daughters, Judy (Patrick) Collins of Plymouth, MN, Nancy Evans of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren, Erin, Evan, Taylor, Sam, and Robert; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Sheridan Johnson; 1 brother-in-law, John Seites. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Seites. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held Friday, June 27, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Jim Rausch officiating. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service.
