Robert Wayne Karchinski's Obituary
Robert Wayne “Big Bob” “Candy Bar” Karchinski, age 58, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, May 14, 2014, at his home. He was born January 6, 1956 in Cleveland, MS and then moved to the Muskegon area as a child, where he has since resided. Bob was a 1974 graduate of Oakridge High School where he was an outstanding athlete in Football, Baseball and Track. He later became an avid softball player. In addition, he loved hunting and fishing and eventually operated “Your Best Chance Guide Services” for steelhead fisherman. . Bob loved “working-out”, maintaining his yard, motorcycle riding and eating and sharing his love of “Frosty’s”. Bob was “determined” in all he did. He was a dedicated Dad, never missing one of his kid’s games or events. He also coached Little League for a while and was a loving “Papa Bob” to his grandchildren.Prior to his retirement, Bob had worked 29 years for Egelston Township’s D.P.W. SURVIVORS include his 5 sons, Justin (Louann) Visconti, Bob (Stacy) Karchinski, Jr., Steve (Rebecca) Karchinski II, Kyle (Chelsea Peterson) Karchinski and Nick Karchinski; 10 grandchildren, his mother, Shirley Karchinski, brother, Chris (Tonya) Karchinski, sisters, Kim (Mike) Hanson and Kerri (Mike) Loney; 13 nieces and nephews; his special friend, Deanna Lasak; and by his former wife and mother of his children, Sherrie Karchinski. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Donald and brother, Steve. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444, 231-798-1100. VISITATION with Bob’s family will be one-hour prior to the service.
