Mr. Robert F. Macaulay's Obituary
Mr. Robert Fussell “Bob” Macaulay, age 70, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. He was born September 5, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA to Charles and Sarah (Fussell) Macaulay and came to the Muskegon area about 15 years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserves. Bob worked as a design engineer for Siemens Dematic – Rapistan Division for 25 years before retiring in 2005. On December 31, 1996, he married the former Carol Lee Ozios in Maryland and she survives him. Bobbymac cared dearly about his wife, family, friends and the people in our community. He was the heart and soul of the volunteers that made the Muskegon Bike Time event a success for the past seven years. He was also instrumental in the initial Hot Rod Power Tour and proudly worked on its second Tour in Muskegon. Bob had passion for many things including riding his Harley Davidson; music, playing guitar and singing to his wife; gifted craftsman, spent many hours in his woodshop; avid reader, always had his Nook; computer/tech expert, helping everyone solve those problems; gardening, always mowed in straight lines and a sincere love for animals. Bob would also be proud that he was able to provide the Gift of Life, donating his beautiful blue eyes to enable another person to have sight. Bob was a loving and devoted husband who cherished every minute with his wife and soul-mate Carol. There is not a single person who knew Bob that did not enjoy his company, smiling face and sunny disposition. To all who know him, he will truly be missed. SURVIVORS include his wife, Carol; 6 daughters, Kim Hammond, Terri West, Kate (Dennis Schwendiman) Macaulay, Sam (Bert) Marks, Connie Cotumaccio, Bethany Macaulay Zeleznick; 11 grandchildren, Base, Sky, Angela, Tony, Tom, Brett, Alex, Anna, Sean, Jacquelyn, Heather; 2 brothers, Rich Macaulay, Jim (Joanna) Macaulay; 2 Nephews Rich and Jon; 2 Sisters-In-Law, Janet (Paul) Bethke, Patty Zaffuto; and his extended family, The Caballero Family in Mexico City, Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Fricano’s Event Center, 1050 West Western Avenue, Muskegon, Michigan 49441.
A MEMORIAL in Bob’s honor for his tireless commitment to our community will be a bench dedication in the Heritage Memorial Garden, 545 West Western Avenue, Muskegon, Michigan 49441. A beautiful park he enjoyed, particularly, during the Muskegon Bike Time. We will also host a dedication gathering at the Heritage Memorial Garden during Bike Time on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 5:00 p.m.
