Shuken—our/my dear dear friend at Bronson Hospital, is simply an amazing human being. Deeply spiritual, questioning but not a jerk about it, grounded in his ever-changing faith, open to being present in the Now, so non-judgemental. Big, warm, Shuken energy. Teddy Bear. A perfect chaplain. He Loved all the Small Creatures of God, dogs and cats for sure. Kip, Bandit. And his crisp memories for any detail of any ancient event one could think of putting up to him—surely a Jeopardy champ. …Sometime before we heard the shock of his passing, Shuken texted me he wanted to live to 100 and have great-grandkids. The last thing he said to me was, “Via Con Dios, Jan.” Go with God.
