Mr. Robert Lynn Messenger Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Robert Lynn Messenger Jr. passed away very unexpectedly, Thursday, March 2, 2017 at an area hospital. Bob was born April 21, 1970 in Muskegon to Robert and Katherine (Yore) Messenger. On August 30, 1991, he married the former Annette Sue Foster and she survives him. Bob had worked at Eagle Ottawa Leather for more than 10 years, and after that worked as a commercial painter and a sanitation worker. Bob met his future wife in kindergarten, and by fourth grade he decided that someday she would marry him. He was right! By age 13 they were dating and by 21 he married her. He was lucky enough to have a son, and he made sure to give him the love and guidance he needed to grow into a wonderful young man. This was his proudest accomplishment. Bob loved listening to his hair band music and the Beatles. His favorite thing to do would be to crank up his tunes and work in his pole barn. If it had a motor or moving parts, he could fix it, paint it or make it look sweet. He helped many fix or paint their rides. He was owned by several dogs over the years, and had a very special bond with his bulldog Patches. Along with his wife, Bob is survived by his son Terry (Whitney Pedersen) Messenger of Holly MI; parents, Katherine and Terry Garvey of Muskegon and Robert and Edie Messenger of Six Lakes; sister Dawn (Todd Grissmeyer) Messenger of Milwaukee, WI; cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends; and his bulldog Clementine. A Memorial service for Bob will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100) with Rev. Dave Schoonbeck officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 1 hour prior to the service from 10-11am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Detroit Bulldog Rescue, PO Box 284, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080 www.detroitbulldogrescue.org. Please sign Bob’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com
