Robert L. Miller's Obituary
Mr. Robert L. Miller, age 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 5, 2021 at his home. He was born July 15, 1940 in White Cloud, MI to Robert and Hazel (Sutton) Miller. A lifelong resident of the Muskegon area, Bob graduated from Muskegon Heights High School. He married the former Mary Jay in 1967 and she survives him. Bob spent his years working as a barber at his three different barber shops. He first owned Junior High Barber Shop, across from the Muskegon Heights Junior High School and then moved his operation to 6th St., where the shop had no name. Bob decided to move the shop one final time to Grand Haven Road, as well as name it, Bob’s Airport Barber Shop. He spent 47 years at that location and worked his last day on November 25, 2020, four months after turning 80. In his free time, Bob enjoyed watching drag racing, watching Notre Dame football, and talking politics in his barber shop. Most importantly was the time spent with his two granddaughters, Abigail and Emma. They were the light of his life and he cherished every moment with them, including their many trips to Disney World and watching them play sports growing up. Bob was a kind, humble man and will be missed dearly by his wife of 54 years, Mary; daughter; Jill (Chris) Lynn; granddaughters, Abigail Lynn (Abigayle Gushen) and Emma Lynn (Kolbe Trovinger); sister, Sharon (Harold) Bluhm; brother-in-law, Arthur Casadonte; sisters-in-law, Hazel (Craig) Johnson and Grace White; and many nieces and nephews. Per Bob’s wishes, no services will be held, and cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (451 S. Getty St. Muskegon, 49442). Arrangements entrusted to The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI, 49444.
