Robert J. "Bob" Morningstar's Obituary
Robert J. “Bob” Morningstar Jr., age 77, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, May 27, 2024. He was born February 17, 1947 in Muskegon to Robert and Mary (Friday) Morningstar Sr. Bob was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving his country during the Vietnam Era in the Philippines. On August 29, 1998, he married the former Sandra L. Wordelman in Muskegon. Bob worked for Lorin Industries for 20 years, did small engine repair for both ACE Hardware and Sears, and for the past 12 years worked as a welder for ACEMCO Industries in Spring Lake. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder, Usher, and Prayer Leader. His pastimes included hunting, fishing, reading, and helping friends and family with their small engine repairs. He also was a history buff and loved watching football, especially the Detroit Lions and U of M. But more importantly, he loved spending time with his nine grandchildren. Bob is survived by his wife, Sandra; three children: Aileen Morningstar of Oregon, Christina (Lee) Burkett of Muskegon, and Jeffrey (Kimberly) Cooper of Buchanan, MI; nine grandchildren; four brothers; three sisters; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Michelle Morningstar. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Bob will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3225 Roosevelt Rd., Muskegon, MI 49441, with Pastor Paul C. Appold officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest in the Trinity Lutheran Church Resurrection Garden.
