Mr. Robert A. Morse's Obituary
Mr. Robert A. Morse, age 90, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016. He was born on July 31, 1926 in Adrian, Michigan to Oscar and Clara (Alexander) Morse and lived in the Muskegon area since 1964. He married the former Carol Bennett in 1948 in Angola, IN. Bob also served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II. He worked for the Grand Rapids Press and the Grand Rapids Herald prior to an 18-year career as manager with the Muskegon Chronicle and retired in 1982. Following his retirement, he was a Realtor with Vollmer Real Estate for five years. Bob was a longtime member of St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church and was a Lay Minister. He was a member of the choir, presented communion and served on the vestry. He also was a member of the Muskegon Country Club, the Century Club, the Rotary and was past president of United Way. Bob was very artistic, which he got from his dad. He was a cartoonist for the Grand Rapids Herald advertisements, and when he was younger, loved to play tennis and golf. He was a very good fisherman and enjoyed traveling and going to MSU football games. His greatest joy came from his family. He loved hanging out with them and the time spent with them. SURVIVORS include his children; Doug (Mary) Morse, Steve (Nancy) Morse and Jennifer (Lou) Manak; grandchildren, Bryan (Andrea) Morse, Erik (Stephani) Morse, Andrew (Katey) Morse, John (Virginia Cangelosi) Morse, Dan (Whitley) Morse, Angela (Rick) Slater and Phil Manak; great-grandchildren; Dylan, Benn, Mayra, Taryn, Olivia and Alexa. Bob was preceded in death by his wonderful wife, Carol, following 41 years of marriage. After Carol’s death, he enjoyed a long loving relationship with Betty Andre and she too, along with sisters, Ginny, Mary and Dorothy, preceded him in death. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church (1200 Seminole Rd.) Prior to the service, VISITATION at church will be from 10 AM-11 AM. Memorial contributions may be directed to either the church, the Noah Project (5205 Airline Rd.) or Veteran’s Service Center (165 E. Apple Ave.). Arrangements entrusted to The Lee Chapel, 6291 S.
