Robert A. Newson's Obituary
Mr. Robert A. Newson, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in Muskegon, Michigan. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on October 17, 1927 to Ralph G. and LaRue (McQuiston) Newson and resided in the Lansing area prior to moving to Muskegon in 2010. Robert graduated from Everett High School in 1945 and Lansing Business University in 1956. He was a veteran of the United States Army working in General MacArthur’s office in Tokyo. Robert was employed as an accountant and business controller for Schaberg Lumber/Heart Truss Engineering for 25 years and Jacklin Steel prior to his retirement. He had an adventurous spirit all of his life and a special affinity for animals, both wild and tame. On November 15, 1950, Robert married the former Sumie Sunaoka in Tokyo, Japan and she survives him along with their children, Perry (Deborah) Newson and Amy (Michael Ganschow) Newson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ralph F. Newson. According to Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in the spring.
