Mr. Robert W. Niemeyer's Obituary
Robert W. Niemeyer went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 27, 2018. He was born on February 28, 1929 to John T. and Johanna (Walhout) Niemeyer in Muskegon and lived his life in the Port City. Bob retired from Muskegon Bank and Trust/First of America Bank where he had worked for many years. He was an active, lifelong member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church and also volunteered at Hackley Hospital. He married Kathlyn Fonger and they celebrated 69 years together before she passed away on October 13, 2018. Survivors include 3 children: Mary (Gord) VanderSlice, Mark (Kathryn) Niemeyer, Anne (Ed) VanGrouw; grandchildren: Tonya VanderSlice, Amy (Case) McCalla, Julie (Mark) Damstra, Scott (Sara) VanGrouw, Lisa (Dave) Heida, Laura (Nate) Stenquist; great-grandchildren: Hannah and Elizabeth VanderSlice, Emily, Megan and Will McCalla, Aiden, Evie and Jordan Damstra, Jamin and Nicole VanGrouw, Ryan and Annalise Heida, Cody and Dylan Stenquist; brother, Glenn (Betty) Niemeyer; in-laws, Char (Tim) Larsen and Jean Smit. Bob was preceded in death by his grandson Chris VanderSlice; his parents, his brother, Ken Niemeyer, and sister Marilyn (Phillip) Buwalda. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 1, at 11:00 AM at Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 695 Allen Avenue. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
