Robert L. "Bob" Norton's Obituary
Robert L. “Bob” Norton, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 20, 2020. He was born on April 17, 1951 to John and Della (VanOort) Norton in Muskegon, MI. Bob had various careers, but he retired from Herman Miller after working there for 10 years. Bob was known for being a character. He was a man full of joy and laughter. He was an outgoing person who enjoyed a good adventure. Camping with his family and friends was a common outing for him. You could usually find him in Hersey, MI on the Muskegon River. Bob was a man of many talents. He played guitar in a band and was also an avid golfer and bowler. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing pool and volunteering his time at the VFW Post #7729. Above all things, he loved his family and friends. He will be remembered for being a family man. He was a charismatic and tender-loving soul who will be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his significant other, Phyllis Rowe; 2 children, Robert “Bobby” Norton and Donald “Don” (Sara) Norton; 3 sisters, Joanne (Bruce) Morehouse, Bonnie Decker and Patricia Cobb; brother, Rex (Charleen) Norton; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Joane Matthews. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the VFW Derezinski Pst #7729, 6285 E.
