Mr. Robert L. Romsek's Obituary
Robert “Bob” L. Romsek, age 86, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015. He was born September 3, 1929 in Copemish, MI to Peter and Anna (Lisac) Romsek. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army as a military policeman during the Korean War in Okinawa. After his service he received his business degree from Muskegon Business College and became a CPA, working for Lawrence Scutter CPA firm, Clarke Floor Machine, Landman Hathaway Law Firm and eventually his own accounting firm. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic church, the Read-Osborne American legion Post #531 in Copemish, MI, and was the president of Golden Sands Association from 1990-1994. Bob loved sharing stories of growing up on the farm, the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. He always enjoyed gathering friends and family at the cottage on Lake Michigan; where he always welcomed company with a beverage and a spirited visit, a game of euchre, or just watching the sunset. On May 19, 1956, Bob married his loving wife of 59 years, the former Ardis Acker, who survives him including his children, Steven (Alice) Romsek, Shelley (Walter) Barker; grandchildren, Brian (Jerilyn) Romsek, Zac (Jen) Barker, Joshua (Marie Lidwin) Barker; great grandchildren, Lauren Romsek, Chase Barker; sister, Agnes (Howard) Haselschwardt; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends, especially the Sesselmann Family. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Janet Romsek; sisters, Anna Milks, Rose Gawkowski, Helen Romsek, Mary Cribbs; and brothers, John Romsek, Bill Romsek. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will take place at Prince of Peace Catholic Church (1110 Dykstra Rd.) at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 8, 2015 with Fr. Peter G. Vu presiding. VISITATION with the family will take place at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231-798-1100), from 5 to 8 on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 and an hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Mears Cemetery at a later date. For a more lasting memorial the family asks you to look to either Harbor Hospice or The Alzheimer’s Association with a donation in Bob’s name.
