Mr. Robert Dean Sturgis Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Robert Dean Sturgis Sr., age 63, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at a local hospital. Bob was born January 27, 1956 to William A. and Harriet T. (Cox) Sturgis in Muskegon. On October 4, 1975, he married Rose Marie Neff in Muskegon. Bob was employed as the head flyman for IATSE Local 26 for 38 years, working most recently at The DeVos Place and retiring in 2014. He also owned and operated Economy Tree Service since 1972. When not working, he enjoyed woodworking, boating and collecting antiques. He was a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Employees and well as the Muskegon Conservation Club. Along with Rose Marie, his wife of 44 years, and his adored granddaughters, Erika Marie and Olivia Rose, Bob leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Robert Dean Sturgis Jr. and Randy Dean (Kristen) Sturgis, both of Muskegon; his brothers, Bill, Dean, and Dennis Sturgis; his sisters, Phyliss Gonyon, Jean Bushie and Denise Smith; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Terry, Jerry and Alan; and sisters, Sandra Coffman and Verna Belle O’Conner. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 16, 2019 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI 49442, 231-726-5210. with Pastor John H. Brown officiating. Visitation with the family will be 2-5 PM Sunday, December 15, 2019 and 1 hour prior to the service on Monday (10-11 AM). Burial in Egleston Township Cemetery.
