Robert J. Van Houten's Obituary
Robert Jay Van Houten, age 76, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at the Leila & Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence. He was born January 3, 1946, in Holland, MI to Ralph and Mary (Veenstra) Van Houten.
Robert served his country in the Army. He worked at Holland Hitch, delivered the Holland Sentinel as a rural newspaper delivery which he loved to do, and Herman Miller. Robert was pretty much a laid-back guy.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Tabatha) Van Houten, Jr., Tammy Van Houten, Betsy (Chad) Smith, Richard “Cliff” Smith; and fourteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley Chrispell, Jeannette VanderHulst and Joan Conway.
A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Restlawn Cemetery in Holland, MI with military honors accorded by the Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post # 28 Honor Guard. Share memories with the family at their online guest book at www.sytsemafh.com.
