Robert Van Woerkom's Obituary
Robert Henry VanWoerkom, age 83, of Spring Lake died Sunday, October 8, 2006 at a local care facility. He was born July 20, 1923, to William and Celia (Bronsema) VanWoerkom in Grand Haven, and married Virgil Eva Thorstein on January 26, 1951 in Grand Haven. She preceded him in death on July 20, 1992. A lifelong area resident, Bob served with the Army during the World War II. Bob had worked for and retired from Bastian Blessing. Bob was a member of the Spring Lake Presbyterian Church and Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post #2326 of the VFW. Survivors include his three sons; David (Linda) of Woodhaven, MI, Bob Jr. (Vicki) of Grand Haven, John (Lisa) of Holland; three grandchildren: Marie, Jason and Jenifer VanWoerkom; a sister, Helen VanWoerkom of Grand Haven; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Pekich, and two brothers, John and Gerald. Memorials to American Cancer Society are appreciated.
