Robert H. "Bob" Walker Jr's Obituary
Robert Harold “Bob” Walker Jr., age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at home. He was born in Lansing, Michigan to Robert Harold Walker and Vivian June Brauer on December 30, 1937. He graduated from Bloomingdale High School class of 1955. On December 29, 1962, he married the love of his life, Mathiel “Sue” Green, in South Haven, MI. Together they cherished 60 years full of love and laughter.
Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked at National Motors Castings Co. until 1983 when it closed. Bob retired from Nugent Sand Co. in 1999 where he worked as a supervisor. He was a faithful servant of his Lord and very active within his church. Bob enjoyed being a member of Builders for Christ, traveling across the United States, helping build many churches as well as his own church, Grace Lutheran Church in Muskegon, Michigan. He served as an Usher there for many years.
Bob was also a member of the American Legion in Holton. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed spending his time fishing and hunting. Bob was also an avid golfer spending many hours on the greens. He was known to be a jack of all trades and could fix anything he set his mind to. His determined and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
Robert is survived by his wife, Mathiel Sue Walker; three children, Kathleen (Rick Burrows) Walker, Robin (Warren Gunderman) Hicks, Janice (Mathew) Rahrig; grandchildren, Daniel Walker, Jeremy Burrows, Aaron (Courtney) Burrows, Christopher (Kimberly) Hicks, Heather (Ryan Cross) Hicks, Michael (Meghan Wigger) Hicks, Alissa (Zachary) Redinger and Jamie (Justin) Nink; great-grandchildren, Jordyn Walker, Tristan Walker, Ulric Burrows, Jayme Burrows, Joshua Burrows, Shea Burrows, Kylee Burrows, Alisson Burrows, Hailey Burrows, Damien Martin, Rachel Burrows, Katana Cross, Neveah Cross, Aiden Cross, Noah Cross, Alexus Kemp, Trenton Hicks, Christian Hicks, Liley Wigger, Izalea Wigger, Zachary Redinger, Lukas Redinger, Abigail Opfer, Lillian Redinger, and Finnegan Nink; great-great-grandchild, Clover Burrows; and sisters, Mary Stone and Sharon Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Ben Munn; and many of his dear friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Grace Lutheran Church, 2651 Shettler Rd, Muskegon, MI 49444. Visitation for family and friends will be at 10:00AM.
