Robert N. "Bob" Weerstra's Obituary
Robert N. “Bob” Weerstra, age 87, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023. He was born April 19, 1936 in Muskegon to Engbert and Ottolene (Love) Weerstra. Bob worked for Howmet in several capacities for 37 years prior to his retirement. On November 12, 1955, he married the former Nancy J. Wilke in Muskegon. He was a former member and deacon of Dalton Baptist Church and was a member of the Muskegon Bowen Archery Club. He loved to hunt and fish and go camping in Northern Michigan with Nancy in their fifth wheel. He will be greatly missed. SURVIVORS include his wife, Nancy; three children: Bobbi J. Weerstra-McConnell, Richard C. “Rick” Weerstra, and Timothy R. “Tim” (Chris Burnham) Weerstra; five grandchildren: Amber Weerstra-Berdinski, Patrick McConnell Jr., Andrea Skidmore, Cody McConnell, and Dylan Hendrie; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Robert M. “Bobby” Cahill; brother, Jack Weerstra; and sister, Susan Weerstra. Graveside services for Bob will be held 11:00 AM Monday, November 6, 2023 at East Dalton Oakhill Cemetery.
