Mr Robert G. White's Obituary
Mr. Robert G. “Bob” White, age 94, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 3, 2019 surrounded by his family. Bob was born June 3, 1925 in Muskegon to Albert L. and Helen (Schweissinger) White. He married the former Bernadine Vandenberg on June 3, 1961 and she survives him. Bob, a Muskegon High School graduate, was known as Whizzer White; a legend in his high school days for excelling in track, basketball, and in football with the leather helmets. In track, he raced against Olympian Jesse Owens. After graduating from W.M.U., Bob tried out for the Green Bay Packers; but his career ended abruptly with 2 broken legs. He then worked for Be-Mo Potato Chip Company and later for Made Rite in management for 35 years before retiring in 1990. Bob was the oldest lifetime member of the Muskegon Eagles Arie #668. Most recently, he was known as the lawn ranger, for his work in the yard. He enjoyed watching sports, westerns, and loved spending time with his family. A true gentleman, he will be fondly remembered by his family and friends. In addition to Bernadine (Bernie), his wife of 58 years, Bob is survived by his children, Melodie (Tim Sr.) Thielbar, Kimberly (Gary) Olsen and Karin (Warren) Barnhard; grandchildren, Tim (Marzieh) Thielbar Jr., Jason Thielbar, and Jacob (Rachel DeMuro) Barnhard; great-grandchildren, Oliva, Julian, and Andrew. Bob was preceded in death by a son, Richard G. White; granddaughter, Tracy Olsen; his parents; and a sister, Dora Ann Buck. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 9, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100, with Rev. Jeffery Dunn officiating.
