Robert W. "O.T." Wierengo's Obituary
Robert W. “O.T.” (Old Timer) Wierengo, age 93, passed away Wednesday evening, January 29, 2025. He was born May 14, 1931, in Muskegon to Frederick and Delphine (Newland) Wierengo. Bob graduated from Muskegon High School in 1949. He married the former Ardyce M. “Ardie” VanDyke in Muskegon on October 27, 1951. Ardie preceded in death on August 28, 2021. In his early years, Bob owned and operated Wierengo Standard Service Stations for several years at two locations. He later worked at the Muskegon Regional Center for Developmental Disabilities Services as their Physical Plant Superintendent for over 25 years before his retirement. In his early years, Bob also helped his friend, Roger Joneson, work on his race cars. But his greatest joy was found while spending time at his cabin with friends and family, where he would hunt, fish, wood carve, smoke a cigar, and have a few beers. He will be missed by many.
SURVIVORS include his children: Bob Wierengo and Debi (Mike) Repta both of Muskegon; four grandchildren, Jill (Ryan) Trimbur, Kevin (Christina) Wierengo, John Repta, and Lesa (Justin) Kladder; three great-grandchildren, Justin, Blaine, and Malia; brother, Charles (Irene) Wierengo of Grand Haven; a special niece, Diana Kieft; and several other nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Fred (Mary) Wierengo and Richard (Donna) Wierengo; and a sister, Pat. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Seminole Shores Assisted Living Center and his Gentiva Hospice nurse, Ashley, for all of the special care given to Bob and the family over the past few months.
