Mr. Robert J. Wiersema's Obituary
Mr. Robert J. Wiersema, age 89, passed away on Friday March 27, 2015. Bob was born on August 13, 1925 to John and Rose (Mikula) Wiersema. He served his country proudly in the US Army during WWII as a tank driver. He was an electrician with Local 275 for over 40 years. Bob was also blessed with 5 children in his life. Sadly in 1982 Bob’s first wife Lois (Botten) passed away. In 1983 he married the former Barbara King and they enjoyed over 30 years of marriage together. Bob was a member of Olivet Evangelical Free Church where he served on the board and was very active. He spent many years volunteering at Spring Hill Camp and was a member of the Red Leather Helmet Gang. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and reading but first and foremost was always his family. He was an honorable, indomitable, gracious man of God who will be deeply missed. Bob is survived by his wife Barbara; 5 children, Patt (Cliff) Hoffman, David Wiersema (Kelly Woirol), Mike (Linda) Wiersema, Lorie (Bert) Vandenberg, and Linda (Patrick) Bourdon; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; special daughter-in-law Linda Wiersema; and sister-in-law Mildred “Mickey” Wiersema. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lois; parents; and brother, Charles Wiersema. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 11AM at Olivet Evangelical Free Church 6790 Harvey Rd. VISITATION will be held on Monday from 5-8PM at The Lee Chapel 6291 S Harvey St 231-798-1100. Memorial contributions can be made to Olivet Evangelical Free Church.
