Robert T. Williams, Sr.'s Obituary
Robert Truman Williams, Sr., age 86, passed away Wednesday March 15, 2017. He was born January 10, 1931 in Muskegon to Nelson and Eva (Bell) Williams. Mr. Williams served his country during the Korean War while in the United States Air Force. He worked for the Muskegon County Road Commission for 24 years prior to retiring in 1992 and was a proud member of the Teamsters Union. On August 15, 1952, he married the former Ruth Shephard in Orlando, FL and she preceded him in death on December 10, 2013 following 61 years of marriage together. Bob and Ruth both enjoyed the 14 winters spent in Texas in their retirement years. He also enjoyed playing pool, doing crossword puzzles, and in his earlier years, used to hunt and fish. SURVIVORS include 5 children: Robert T. (Sandra) Williams, Jr. of Whitehall, Patricia (Robert) McNeal of Hesperia, Linda (Jack) Workman of Muskegon, Sharon (Paul) Northrup of Twin Lake, James (Lori) Williams of Grand Haven; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Maxine) Williams of Muskegon; many nieces and nephews; and his numerous grand puppies and kitties. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters: Evelyn, Jean, Marilyn, and Betty. A MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held from 1-3 PM Sunday, March 19, 2017 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210 with Military Honors held at 3:00 PM. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Liver Foundation.
