Mr. Robert G. Wilson's Obituary
Mr. Robert G. Wilson Sr, age 85, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at his home, peacefully. He was born on April 17, 1933 in Winterset, Iowa, eventually moving to Muskegon while in high school. Bob proudly served his country during the Korean War while in the United States Navy, where he was stationed on the USS Boxer. Bob met the love of his life, the former Emma Denhof, in Muskegon and married her in September of 1953. He enjoyed anything outdoors, such as fishing, camping and birdwatching. Bob volunteered with the Red Cross and was an MSU fan. Bob was a family man. He was proud of his sons and grandkids, always making it to all their sporting events. Most of all, Bob made everyone feel welcome and accepted, especially new family members. He had a very authentic personality and was genuinely caring. Bob will be deeply missed by his wife of 64 years, Emma; sons, Robert (Carla) Wilson Jr, David (Karen) Wilson and Mark (Christine) Wilson; grandchildren, Jamie (Mike) Benedict, Joshua (Lisa) Wilson and Megan Wilson; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Michael Benedict, and Brielle and Vienna Wilson; five step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Brue; brother-in-law, Don (Marilyn) Denhof; many nieces, nephews and friends; and special friend, Yogi Yaros. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Borckhardt and her husband, Bernie. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 25 at 11AM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to V.F.W.
