Robert "Bob" Warren Cottrell's Obituary
Mr. Robert “Bob” Warren Cottrell, age 76, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010 in Muskegon. He was born March 28, 1934 in Muskegon to C.L. “Skip” and Jennie (Joldersma) Cottrell and lived in the area his entire life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. On June 20, 1959, he married the former Constance Fongers in Muskegon and she survives him. He worked as a fire fighter for the City of Muskegon for 27 years and retired in 1991. Bob was a member of the Old News Boys since 1964 and had also been an active member of the Viking’s Linne Lodge #57 in Muskegon. Among his many interests were hunting, fishing, and gardening his flowers. He was a great husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his loving family. SURVIVORS include his wife, Constance; 3 children, Jill (Clay) Sietsema of Muskegon and their children, Ben and Nicole Sietsema; Jack R. (Diane) Cottrell of Muskegon and their son, Daniel Cottrell; Jody (Wes) Eklund of Muskegon and their children, Blair (Kristina) Eklund of Chicago, Erica (Wes) Slayton of Muskegon, Andrew (Amy) Eklund of Alaska; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Jean (John) Ashley of Ludington; 1 brother-in-law, Robert McDonald of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 sister, Beverly McDonald. In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.
