Robert Charles Lund's Obituary
Mr. Robert Charles Lund, age 94, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Heartwood Lodge. He was born November 24, 1915 in Muskegon to Charles Hugh and Martha (Muth) Lund and lived in the Muskegon area his entire life. He retired from Teledyne-Continental Motors in 1973 after 32 years of service. On November 24, 1939, he married the former Olga Pauline Feliciotti in Muskegon, and she preceded him in death on September 21, 2004 after 64 years of marriage. He later married Mary Ellen Gawron on October 10, 2006 and she survives him. He was an active member of the former St. Joseph Catholic Church and was currently a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was beloved by his children and grandchildren, to whom he set an example of a genuine willingness to help others, whether they were family, friends and neighbors, or strangers. He demonstrated a devotion to meticulous craftsmanship, an unpretentiousness and a quiet sense of humor, and a persistent curiosity about how things work. As a young man, he trained for and achieved a pilot's license, anticipating he would be called up into the armed services. He enjoyed boating and fishing, and had a strong interest in photography. His love of machine tooling was pursued at home as well as at work. In 1948, along with his wife, Olga, he built their family's home. He will be greatly missed. SURVIVORS include his wife, Mary; three children, Ann Lund (Randall Jacob) of Ann Arbor, Barbara Lund of Ka’a’awa, Hawaii, Charles (Nancy) Lund of Norton Shores; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter. He was also preceded in death by his son, James Robert Lund and his daughter-in-law, Colette (Herman) Lund; his sister, Geraldine (Lund) Hornik, and 1 great-grandson, Thomas Lund. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Julian Reginato as celebrant. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be 5-8 PM Tuesday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Tuesday evening. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass, 10-11 AM Wednesday at the church.
