Robert D. "Bob" Roy's Obituary
Mr. Robert D. “Bob” Roy, age 80, passed away at Gulf Side Hospice Care on September 2, 2011. He was born on July 5, 1931 to David and Hazel (Howe) Roy in Muskegon. He had worked as a bricklayer for Muskegon Construction Company for 37 years and retired in 1985. Prior to moving to Florida, he had been a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. Bob served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Derezinski Post 7729 in Muskegon. In Bob’s free time he enjoyed woodworking and traveling. He married Carol Kahene in April of 1954, and they were married 42 years before preceding him in death on February 14, 1996. On March 8, 1997, he then married Neva Miltroka in Dade City, FL and she survives him along with his 5 children, David (Corinne) Roy of Everett, WA; James (Debra) Roy of Muskegon; Christine (Jeffrey) LaRue of Muskegon; Matthew (Paula) Roy of Cicero, New York and Terri Roy of Muskegon; 5 step-children, Barbara (Wayne) Dunker, Marla Meyers, Steven (Lori) Miltroka, Michael (Brenda) Miltroka and David Miltroka; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step great grandchildren; brother, John “Jack” Roy of Muskegon; and sister, Jeanne (Merlin) Wever of Muskegon. MASS of CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 9, 2011 at St. Thomas Catholic Church (3252 Apple Ave. Muskegon, MI) with Rev. Fr. Anthony M. Pelak as celebrant. VISITATION with the family will be 6-8 PM Thursday at The Sytsema Chapel 737 Apple Ave. Muskegon, MI 49442 231-726-5210 BURIAL will take place at Egelston Township Cemetery with Veteran’s Rites Service. MEMORIALS to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
