Robert Earl Webb's Obituary
Mr. Robert Earl Webb, age 84, passed away early Saturday morning, March 29, 2008 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. Bob was born February 18, 1924, in Kokomo, IN., to Vern Elmer and Sophronia (Howe) Webb. He served his country proudly during WWII in the U.S. Army. On September 15, 1943, Bob married the former Elsie Marie Hittle in Conway, South Carolina, and she preceded him in death on March 2, 2006. Robert was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office for 32 ½ years prior to his retirement in 1979. Prior to working with the post office, he had worked with Brunswick Corporation. Bob was a member of the Evanston Avenue Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees, and as an usher. He was a 50 year member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. Bob enjoyed fishing, carpentry, and had built his own home. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandkids and great grandkids. SURVIVORS include 2 daughters, Teddy (AL) Bosworth of Muskegon and Brenda (Gary) Kling of Fruitport; 4 grandchildren, Robert Miller, Joshua (Jennifer) Kling, Courtney Kling, Bethany Jenerou; 5 great grandchildren, Nicholas Young, Kip Miller, Kayla Miller, John Jenerou and Lyla Jean Kling; 1 brother, Carl(Helen)Webb of Indianapolis, IN; 2 sisters, Helen(Ernie) Hause of Muskegon, Roberta (Ted) Simpson of Port Angeles, WA; 2 sisters-in-law, Irene Webb of Council Bluff, IA, June Hittle of Muskegon; 1 brother-in-law, Merle (Marilyn) Hittle of Twin Lake; and many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by 2 sons, Robert Webb Jr. and Barry Lee Webb; a great grandson, Robert Miller; 3 brothers, Charles, Floyd, and William Webb; a son-in-law Walter Kip Miller; 4 sisters, Annabell Graham, Edna Harmon, Alena Graham, and Patricia Arnett. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1PM Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at the Evanston Ave. Baptist Church (1198 Evanston Ave.) with Pastors Shane Prewitt and Allan J. Engstrom co-officiating. VISITATION will be from 2-4 and 6-8PM Tuesday at The Lee Chapel. INTERMENT will be in Lakeside Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to The Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence.
