Robert Irvin Green's Obituary
Mr. Robert I. Green, age 67, passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 after a short battle with cancer. He was born July 1, 1942 in Muskegon to Irvin and Evelyn (Forester) Green. He married the former Shirley M. Smith in Muskegon on November 9, 1963. He was employed as a Firefighter for the Muskegon Fire Department for 32 years until his retirement in 2000. Bob was an avid fisherman, hunter and volunteered for the Muskegon Fire Department Tee-off Against Burns golf outing, the restoration of the Grand Trunk car ferry dock and various school functions for his grandchildren. He was also an active member of the Lakeside Neighborhood Association. SURVIVORS include: his wife, Shirley; 2 daughters, Janet (Douglas) Bluhm of Norton Shores and Traci (Chris) Wilks of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren, Joslyn and Evan Bluhm, Bailey, Brook and Brandee Wilks; sister-in-law, Sally (Dick) Pleimling of Muskegon; brother-in-law, Eddie Smith; his aunts and uncle, Art and JoeAnn Forester of Muskegon and Laura B. Golding of Mission, TX; special friends, Brad (Melissa) Vanderberg, Annie (Dave) Slagh, Paul (Helen) Watson and Ellouise Heiftje all of Muskegon; and also, his very special companion, Ladybug. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at the Grand Trunk Car Ferry dock at McCracken St. and Lakeshore Dr. on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 12:00 noon with Greg Roberts officiating.
