Robert John Johnson's Obituary
Robert John Johnson, age 30, passed away Friday, June 18, 2010 in Grand Rapids. Rob was born August 30, 1979 to Robert John Ward and Joan Johnson in Muskegon. He had been working in Grand Rapids for the last 10 years as licensed contractor and was attending Grand Rapids Community College. Earlier in his career he had worked for Sheriff-Goslin Roofing, Alstrom Construction and John Darien Homes. Rob had fostered his love of gardening and Bonsai trees by working as a young man at Tom Fisher Greenhouses. He was affiliated with the North Club and enjoyed painting and dancing. Rob practiced Tai Chi and had many interests in the realm of spirituality. He is survived by his partner, Ron Mekkes of Grand Rapids; his mother, Joan Johnson of Muskegon; 4 brothers, Joe Johnson, Billy (fiancée’, Marissa Reynolds) Johnson, Anthony Johnson and David Andrew “Andy” Ward, all of Muskegon; half brothers, Robert Timothy (Laura) Ward of Fruitport, James Alan (Tamara) Ward of Florida, Richard Kevin Ward of Florida, Jon Harold (Diane) Ward of Rothbury; half sister, Rhonda Reickard; many aunts and uncles; and a niece, Gracie Ruth Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father; sisters, Jennifer Lynn Ward and Carol Smith Ward; and grandparents, Calvin B. and Marva A. (VanDyke) Johnson. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2 PM Thursday, June 24, 2010 at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service (1-2 PM). In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the family.
