Robert L. Thoma's Obituary
Robert L. Thoma, age 82, of Spring Lake went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 16, 2011. He was born in Muskegon on August 16, 1928, to Hubert and Jennie (Matson) Thoma. Robert married the former Zelma Sherwood on August 6, 1948, and she preceded him in death on July 12, 1987. He then married Dorothy Postema on July 6, 1992.
Robert worked for 30 years at Challenge Porcelain, and also for VanPelt’s and Bastian Blessing. He was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church of Grand Haven. He enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two daughters: Linda (Vic) Munch of Grand Haven and Bonnie (Dave) Phillips of Spring Lake; two sons: Dennis (Macrina) Thoma of Seattle, WA, and Ken Thoma of Grand Haven; five step-daughters; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Judy (Stan) Wildeboer of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The service for Robert will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake with Pastor Wayne Muri officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 AM, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to Lakeshore Baptist Church of Grand Haven are appreciated.
