Robert L. "Bob" Carey's Obituary
Mr. Robert “Bob” L. Carey, age 74, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 in Norton Shores. He was born on December 7, 1931 to Jay and Grace (Johnson) Carey, and had resided in the Muskegon area for most of his life while wintering in Florida since his retirement. Bob was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War, a life member of VFW 446, and also belonged to the Holton American Legion. He had worked at Knoll Group for 25 years as an electrician prior to his retirement in 1994, and was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Bob loved hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes and cribbage, and especially spending time with his family. On April 24, 1954 he married the former Phyllis Lichte, and she survives him along with 5 children, Richard (Paula) Carey, Vicky (Kenneth, Sr.) Rewalt, Becky (Bruce) Barrett, and Ronald (Shelly) Carey all of Muskegon, Louis (Mary) Carey of Sarasota, FL; 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Gladys Tetzloff, and Betty Peck both of Muskegon; 2 sisters-in-law, Louise Carey of Muskegon, Jeanne Carey of Marquette, MI; sister-in-law, Shirley (Carlton) Mosher of North Carolina; special aunt Anna Mae, and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his grandson, Steven Rewalt, 2 brothers, Charles and Albert Carey; and 2 brothers-in-law, Robert Tetzloff and Bruce Peck. SERVICES will be 11 AM Friday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert J. Conradt officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 7-9 PM Thursday at Sytsema Funeral Home 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 and 1 hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial Contributions to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, or Hospice of Muskegon-Oceana would be appreciated.
